Chandra takes a leaf out of real life

Chandra, a former assistant of Ameer and Ram, has gone independent with a film which is about hunters from south Tamil Nadu and how their life takes a U-turn after the government  banned hunting. Titled Kallan, the film has Karu Pazhaniappan playing the lead and Delhi girl Nikhita essaying the female lead.

Talking to DC, Chandra says, “I took inspiration from a real life person whom I witnessed when I was in school  in my native Goodalur. The story of action crime genre is set in the '70s and '80s in a village near Theni and shot in the forests. When he faces a crisis with his hunting job, the government brings a law to ban hunting and he decides to make guns for his livelihood. But when this doesn't work for some reasons, he along with friends resolve to steal in a wealthy man's house, which eventually turns his life topsy-turvy.”

Chandra says the film happens in different landscapes like forests, roads and then shifts to jail.  Ask her if it would have a realistic approach like her mentors' movies and she replies. “Undoubtedly. I have given a live narration.”

What about the women characters in your film?” “There are two women and both have a strong bearing on the script. Although their screen specs is limited their roles dominate in the script.”
