R Madhavan receives Best Actor Filmfare South award for Irudhi Suttru

The Hindi version of Irudhi Suttru' titled Saala Khadoos' was also appreciated by both the audience and the critics alike

Mumbai: R. Madhavan, who played a retired boxer-turned-coach with élan in Sudha Kongara Prasad’s ‘Irudhi Suttru,’ has bagged the Best Actor award at the 64th Jio Filmfare Awards South 2017 for the critically-acclaimed Tamil sports drama.

The Hindi version of ‘Irudhi Suttru’ titled ‘Saala Khadoos’ was also appreciated by both the audience and the critics alike. Interestingly, Irudhi Suttru was nominated in five major categories at the Filmfare Awards South 2017 including Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress.

Madhavan walked away with the trophy in the Best Actor category in which megastar Rajinikanth was also nominated for Kabali among others including Dhanush (Kodi), Suriya (24) and Vijay (Theri) were also nominated.

Last year, ‘Irudhi Suttru’ was screened at the prestigious Tokyo International Film Festival and the movie was met with a fabulous response from the people and the media, who couldn’t stop praising Madhavan’s stupendous performance in the inspiring movie.
