Aadhav Kannadasan, grandson of the late Kaviarasu Kannadasan made his acting debut in Ponmaalai Pozhudhu in 2013. Currently, he’s busy shooting for a village-based flick directed by Ezhil Bharathi, who has previously assisted Ameer and Cheran. Aadhav tells DC, “I have always wanted to do an entertainer set against a village backdrop. This will be on the lines of Paruthiveeran and Virumandi. I play a local; a jovial and rustic guy. We extensively shot in and around Madurai, Theni, Cumbum and Uthamapalayam.

The film is loosely based on whatever the director has seen and experienced in his life. Sixty per cent of the film is complete.” This untitled flick will have Arundhati Nair of Saithan fame playing Aadhav’s romantic interest.

“The director also roped in many theatre and therukoothu artistes, as certain scenes demanded it,” adds Aadhav, who believes that this film will work out well for him.

“My first two films were urban scripts, whereas in this movie I am sporting a lungi throughout. Getting the Madurai slang was a huge challenge. Of course, I did my homework. Ezhil got me a trainer, who taught me how I deliver the dialogues. The director used to insist me that I watch Vetrimaaran’s Aadukalam, which I did on a regular basis for some time. To be honest, the director didn’t start the shoot until I got the accent right. He was quite particular about the body language that it took solid time for me to develop,” he smiles.

What’s next with the actor? “I have signed a couple of films. I want to do roles that gives me scope for performance as an actor. I don’t mind repeating roles, as long as they are fresh and have different shades to the character. I look up to Dhanush a lot,” he signs off.
