Rishi Ritvik’s next, titled Marijuana, has caught the attention of many for its quirky content. The movie is based on real-life incidents in the city.

The film, which received 52 cuts from the Censors besides an ‘A’ Certificate, is against drug abuse. It shows how youth are turning criminals after getting addicted to drugs.

“Actually, it is an awareness film, which send out a large message,” says director MT Anand, who claims that he entered the industry inspired by Mysskin’s films. Rishi (of Attu fame) has been paired with city model Asha Parthalom.

 Speaking at the audio launch of Marijuana, ace filmmaker /actor Bhagyaraj said, “I asked producer MT Vijay the meaning of the title. He said it is another name for Ganja. I was addicted to Ganja for some time 40 years ago. I used to smoke it with my friends in hand-rolled cigarettes. One day, I realized that the habit would not take me anywhere as I wanted to become someone in the film industry. I gave it up without a second thought. I am sure Marijuana, which talks about the perils of drug addiction, will be an eye-opener to youngsters.”
