She made an enviable debut last year with Kollywood thriller Shivalinga

Since childhood, Saipriya Deva wanted to be a heroine. Though she hailed from a family with film association for almost a century, convincing her parents of her dream profession was tough. Like all passionate dreamers, Saipriya too conquered her dreams and made an enviable debut last year with Kollywood thriller Shivalinga, directed by P. Vasu. Apart from acting in a noted role alongside Raghava Lawrence and Ritika Singh, she was thrilled about working with Urvashi, someone she considers one of the most subtle actresses. Now, all set to conquer Mollywood, Saipriya is awaiting the release of her second movie and her Malayalam debut Ente Ummante Peru in which she acts with Malayalam’s most bankable actor at the moment, Tovino Thomas, and yet again, Urvashi!

Excited about not just living her dream of becoming a heroine but of working with a great team, she considers herself lucky and finds hard to express the feeling in words. “I have great memories of making my Tamil debut. But I am very excited to see myself on the big screen in a different language and with Tovino! I am also happy to be sharing screen space with Urvashi ma’m in this movie too. I feel much honored; this is surreal,” shares the actress.

Before coming to films, Saipriya was into modeling and was part of many acclaimed projects. According to her modeling helped her to mould herself as an actress. “Though acting was my dream, I felt I could give modeling a try. Luckily, I could do some projects and I think that really helped me gain confidence.

After the release of my first movie, I went back to the ramp again and was part of a few commercials. It was then, one of my friends told me about Ente Ummante Peru directed by Jose Sebastian. I gave it a go and here I am,” she says.

Overwhelmed by the reception from her co-actors on the set, Saipriya says she learned many things from them. “They were very welcoming and I never had any pressure. Now I am really waiting for the release and hope this is the beginning of many good things.”

Opportunities are pouring in for her, especially in Tamil. She is in talks with many film makers and is hopeful to start works soon.
