A-lister Sivakarthikeyan was mired in controversy during the recent Lok Sabha polls in Tamil Nadu when his name was missing from the voters’ list, despite which he voted with his ID proof. Election Commission official Satyaprada Sahu had said then that action would be taken against the official who allowed the actor to vote.

Siva, during the promo of his upcoming film Mr Local, asserted that he had just done his democratic duty. “I had voted in the same booth (Good Shepherd School in Valasaravakkam) on earlier occasions.  The election commission advises everyone to vote, and it is not my mistake or problem that my name was not in the list of voters. So don’t call it a bogus vote.  I don’t need to give an explanation on this and no official from EC questioned me nor did I receive any intimation.”

On Mr Local directed by humour specialist Rajesh he said, “It is a fun-filled breezy family entertainer. Even during my initial days with TV, I was keen to work with Rajesh sir.  I had met him while dubbing for a particular shot in the voice of Rajinikanth in a song for Rajesh’s earlier film Siva Manasula Sakthi. He was instrumental in setting up my first massive hit Varuthapadatha Valiber Sangam. Finally, we have teamed up for Mr Local. Unlike his earlier films, there are no Tasmac drinking scenes, no smooching scenes etc.”

Siva is teaming up with Nayanthara after Velaikkaran. “Nayan is so talented. There weren’t many combination scenes with Nayan in Velaikkaran. Here in Mr Local, she will appear throughout the film. There are no villains in the film. While I play a sales representative in a car company, Nayan essays the owner of a television manufacturing company. The tussle between us and the ego clash forms the rest of the film.”

The Rajini Murugan actor says he has resolved to act in at least 3 films a year. “I am planning to release at least one movie every six months. It will make my fans happy. I want to meet media often and refresh myself (laughs). Each film gives me lots of experiences. I am still a learner.”

He says that he is not acting in his next production venture Nenjamundu Nermaiundu Odu Raja. “Kanaa needed my presence. But I am not part of Nenjamundu…., which is a political satire.”
