Having acted in over 50 films, Karunakaran has carved a special place for himself in the industry. After acting with Rajinikanth, he is now excited about his next outing Vivegam starring Ajith. “When I received the offer to act alongside Ajith sir, I couldn’t miss the opportunity. Siva sir’s script was so impressive that I agreed to be a part of this prestigious project. I’m quite excited to see the intro scene of Ajith sir in theatre!” says Karunakaran in his chat with DC.

The Thiri actor adds that shooting in certain locales was challenging. “I play APS, a translator. We shot in extreme weather conditions in Belgrade, Sofia and Plovdiv and due to the cold weather, we used to get back ache. There would be tedious work, but it was made to look effortless by the hard work and energy of Siva, Ajith sir and the entire team,” he shares.

Karunakaran tells us that he essays a serious role in Kalavu, which has Kalaiyarasan as the hero. “I would say, my character has grey shades in it. It is in dubbing stage right now. Apart from this, I also have Veera with Krishna and Sillukuvaarpatti Singam with Vishnu Vishal,” he adds.

The actor reveals that his next film with legendary director Priyadarshan will be a refining experience. “Within three days of the shoot, I realised that I’m a just beginner in acting. This film is an important one in my career. I reprise the role of Soubin Shahir in this flick, which is a remake of Maheshinte Prathikaaram,” he concludes.
