With her interests set on filmmaking, Akshara Haasan had been turning down several offers to act, including the one from Mani Ratnam.

Looks like Kamal Haasan’s second daughter Akshara Haasan is determined to capture Kollywood, if not B’town.

The younger sister of Shruti Haasan has now signed up for the Vishal-Mysshkin flick Thupparivaalan for a crucial role, although Tollywood’s Rakul Preet Singh is already cast as the romantic interest of the Avan Ivan star. With her interests set on filmmaking, Akshara Haasan had been turning down several offers to act, including the one from Mani Ratnam.

However, the acting bug seems to have bitten Akshara now, after her debut with the Hindi flick Shamitabh, with Dhanush in the lead. Recently, she even surprised everyone by signing on the dotted line for Ajith’s 57th project, an upcoming action-oriented spy thriller, tentatively titled Thala 57, where she plays the second lead, marking her Tamil debut.

With that, her acting stint seems to have sprung into gear. Confirming the news, Vishal, who is also producing the film under his home banner, Vishal Film Factory, said, “It is an unusual character and we all knows how every one of Mysshkin’s character stands out in his films.

“Akshara came down for the narration and was happy with the script. Only certain people can handle such a character and Mysshkin had lot of conviction on her.”  Incidentally, Shruti Haasan essayed Vishal’s pair in his earlier flick Poojai.
