Trisha Krishnan and Hansika Motwani are two actresses who have carved a niche in Tamil filmdom with their beauty, talent, hard work and just the right amount of luck, otherwise known as their mothers! That’s right, both the lovely actresses have charted their career thanks to their moms’ advice, guidance and most of all, love. In this male-dominated industry, if Trisha and Hansika are standing on their own now — the credit goes to Uma Krishnan and Dr Mona, respectively. Trisha has always had me by her side for any kind of guidance. Though I handle everything for her, I am not a decision-maker. I have made a conscious effort not to do that. She has to make the final call about her movies or any other aspect of her life. Fortunately, I come from a family of strong women.

My mom Saradha is a Rock of Gibraltar; a pillar of strength and gets us going in the toughest situations. We have one another and that’s where Trisha’s strength lies! She, by herself, is bold and beautiful and can face any situation. I am one happy, proud mother to have seen her grow and evolve. This doesn’t mean we haven’t made any mistakes, but we have each other to fall back on. We can bend, but not break.

My mom is ‘my Spine’ — Hansika

Yes, my mom single-handedly brought me up. I always say that a person cannot stand without a spine; I think my mom is my spine and that’s why I have my back straight. I don’t have enough words to express how important she is to me. I am what I am because of my mother. She has invested her entire life on my brother and I.

It’s going to be a simple and sweet Mother’s Day. And being a Sunday, I want to spend more time with her. My brother and I are planning to take her out for brunch and do some special shopping!
