Neta Rajinikanth took the social media by storm on Wednesday morning when he decided to expand his online presence. His fans had gone berserk when he opened his twitter account on February 13, 2013. Having plunged into politics, Rajinikanth has now joined Facebook and Instagram.

He had been using his twitter handle, with its 4.58 million followers, to promote and wish friends’ films. Of late, he has started sharing his comments on national issues and political observations too.

Just as he makes a swashbuckling entry in his films, Rajini’s entry into Instagram was also spectacular. His first post has a picture from his blockbuster Kabali with the whimsical punch line from the film, which reads: Vanakkam. Vandhuttennu Sollu (Tell them I have arrived).

The movie dialogue also assumes significance in the context of Rajinikanth’s political entry.  Sources say the 67-year-old actor is planning to use his Instagram for his political campaigns conveying his views through pictures and videos a he has decided to tour across the length and breadth of Tamil Nadu.

Within hours of its commencement, Rajini got more than a lakh likes on FB and 50,000 followers on Instagram (and counting). Both the pages have been verified with a blue tick. There is a sign-up tab asking fans to register in his Rajini Makkal Mandram on his Facebook home page.

Rajini’s onscreen and political counterpart Kamal Haasan has been using FB and twitter efficiently for months now. He is yet to join Instagram.
