Hansika’s female centric milestone 50th film Maha is in the news ever since the first look of the movie got released. Directed by UR Jameel, a former assistant of Lakshman, it was mired in controversy after Hansika was seen in a saffron outfit smoking ganja from a chillum along with saints in Varanasi. A few Hindu outfits complained that the image had hurt their sentiments.

The producer of the film Madhiyazhagn had earlier told DC that the script demanded those scenes and were not there for the sake of publicity. More recently, when there was no response from the police on  his complaint, Narayanan from Hindu Makkal Munnani party had gone to court to take action on the director and the actress.

This time around, the reason behind the film gaining attention is that Hansika’s ex-boyfriend Simbu has agreed to be part of the film playing a special cameo. A source close to the actor confirms the report that STR has indeed given seven days of call sheets to Maha makers. Another poster suggests that Hansika may be playing a Muslim girl who is in a state of trauma for some reason. Simbu may be seen in a character called Shoaib who appears in the flashback por--tions. And the same source adds that he would also be shaking a leg in a song sequence which is being shot in Istanbul.

STR and Hansika were in a relationship a few years ago and then parted ways. The duo was last seen in the 2015 Vaalu directed by Vijay Chander.

One may recall Simbu doing a cameo in the climax for his good friend Oviya in her recent film 96 ML,  which was also dragged into controversy for its bold content. Meanwhile, Simbu has reasoned out as to why he agreed to compose for Anita Udeep directed 90 ML. He said, “90 ML is a first film meant for women by a woman director. Moreover, nowhere in the film has the director said anything against men. She has spoken only about women empowerment. Many have misconstrued that I am against women. To disprove it as well as since I liked the concept, I agreed to score music for the film. The success of 90 ML is a success for womanhood.”
