Less opposition for Kaala than expected, says Rajinikanth
The actor was looking cheerful and composed while taking all queries in his stride.
“I expected a lot more opposition for Kaala,” Rajinikanth remarked in his inimitable style while talking to the media at the Chennai airport after returning from Hyderabad where he had gone to promote the film. The actor was looking cheerful and composed while taking all queries in his stride.
Talking about Kaala, which will release in Karnataka with protection from government as ordered by the Karnataka high court, he said, “I think we won’t have any problem for Kaala’s release in Karnataka. Without any concrete reasons, a few say it is being banned. Not only Tamilians, other language-speaking people also want to watch Kaala and we should not disappoint them. I am sure Karnataka CM Kumaraswamy will understand the situation and am confident of the government making all arrangements for the release of Kaala and give security to moviegoers at where the movie is screened. Moreover, Deve Gowda, whom I respect a lot, will not allow the film to be banned.”
Reacting to a query on the allegations of his visit to Thoothukudi was to promote Kaala, the 67-year-old actor laughed and said, “By God’s grace, I have my loyal fan followers and support of people. I don’t have to do such ‘stunts’ to promote my movie at this age and 43 years in my film career.”
Rajini also reiterated that one should not mix up cinema and politics as they are two different things. To a question on how he sees the opposition for Kaala after his political entry from politicians as well a few other groups, the Superstar said, “I expected much more opposition than this! It is less now! However, if the movie has good content, people will lap it up. If no good, they will reject.”
Prakash Raj speaks up
Actor Prakash Raj posted his strong views on a proposed ban in Karnataka, saying, “Kaala ban. An ACTORS statement has HURT us. Yes.. we need to express it ..BUT HOW?? Is it by hurting people like US who are not responsible for it. Is it by breeding HATRED between two states ..How long will we let FRINGE elements to decide on how WE should protest..#just asking”
“Let the film release .. let PEOPLE DECIDE if they want to express their protest by NOT watching the film .. let us get to know if PEOPLE really BELIEVE stopping a film can SOLVE ISSUES .. who are these organisations to BLACKMAIL everyone and decide on our behalf .. #justasking.”
