Director Isaq, a former assistant to Pavithran, Suresh and Esa Ghugha, turns independent with a horror family entertainer Nagesh Thiraiyarangam, that stars Aari and Ashna Zaveri.

Speaking to DC, Isaq reveals the reason for the title. He says, “Aari’s character name in the film is Nagesh — and his father, who is an ardent fan of late comedian Nagesh, owns the theatre named after the actor. The film revolves around the theatre. When the theatre runs a loss, the family shifts to the city. 20 years later, when the son Nagesh wants to sell the place, he encounters a ghost in the theatre!”

Heaping praises on Aari’s dedication, he says, “He is a director’s delight. A dedicated method actor, he was shooting for the last day of my film, when we got the news that his mom had passed away in Pudukottai. Even though I insisted that he leave at once — realising that it would cost more if we shot on another day — he stayed back and completed his portions.” Yet another aspect of Aari that he was in awe of, was that the actor performed all the risky stunts without a body double.

Apart from adding the glam quotient, Ashna’s role also contributes to the script, he claims. Veteran actress Latha has been roped in for a crucial role in the flashback portions, which involves a twist. Actress Sithara will be seen as the hero’s mother in the film.
