No holding her back!

She’s been through the wringer over the last few weeks with the news of her separation from her ex-husband director Vijay in the headlines everywhere — but Amala Paul has stayed calm in the face of the controversy, maintaining her dignity. The actress, who’s been laying low of late (though not on the film front), looks even hotter than ever before. Clearly, the fitness bug biting her was a good thing, as Amala has immersed herself into being on top of her game physically, as well.

“You really want to know my secret? It’s simple. Staying happy! I realised that true happiness doesn’t come from outside, but from looking within. Every day now, I introspect for some time before I start my day. I love running a lot too, and also practise some kriyas that I learned from the Isha Foundation. They help rejuvenate both my mind and body,” Amala explains.

How has she dealt with the recent drama in her life? “My brother Abhijith has been a huge source of support to me. I love him so much. We share a typical brother-sister bond... I can’t live with or without him!” she grins.

There’s been much talk of the fact that her continuing to act in movies after marriage was a factor in the separation. Why is this a big deal, and why do so many actresses take a back seat after getting married? She promptly replies, "First of all, there is no front seat or back seat. It’s one’s capability to find the seat which they deserve and that is what I am waking up to everyday.”

Where does she go from here? “My future plans are to get surprised — precisely how it has been so far — for better or worse.  Getting to act in movies, getting married, getting divorced, giving this interview, and the list shall continue. However, if you ask me what I wish to do and what I am currently working on is to develop a consecrated place for well-being. Needless to say, that would include doing good movies, which will excite the actor in me,” Amala signs off, with a smile.
