SS Rajamouli's Baahubali to be made into comics, cartoons and video games

Director SS Rajamouli’s 2015 blockbuster ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ is all set to begin its transmedia expansion with a graphic novel. The film that starred south superstars Prabhas and Rana Daggubati, went on to become an international phenomenon by reportedly collecting over $80 million.

The ‘Baahubali’ production team Arka Mediaworks has teamed up with character entertainment company Graphic India to expand the story across all media formats including comic books, novels, animation and gaming. According to a report, the markers are also trying to target mobile users with a game.

SS Rajamouli unveiled the graphic posters of the characters Baahubali and Bhallala Deva.

Meanwhile, filming for ‘Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion’, is on full swing. According to recent reports, Rana and Prabhas have yet to shoot only 30% of the film, after which Rajamouli will begin postproduction work. The director had also hinted at making a ‘Baahubali’ trilogy, but insisted that the third film would not be broken into a two-part film ‘just for the sake of it’.

The film’s release has been pushed back to 2017.
