It is for the first time, that the background score has been constructed for a movie and then the scenes will be shot to sync with it. And working on this is none other than Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman for ace cinematographer turned filmmaker Rajiv Menon’s musical drama, Sarvam Thaala Mayam.

Rajiv returns to filmmaking after a gap of more than sixteen years. While ARR’s nephew and musician/actor GV Prakash has been roped in for the lead, Aparna Balamurali, who made an impressive debut with 8 Thottakkal, will be seen as his romantic interest.

Close sources confirm that about 40 minutes of re-recording has already been done by Rahman even before the shoot started.

“The script is made in such a way that they needed to do the BGM first. There’s an intriguing aspect in it,” the source adds.

Yet another interesting thing is that Rahman has already composed nine songs for STM.  Talking  about his drummer role, GV Prakash says, “I play a percussionist and Rajiv sir has given a Broadway musical treatment.., I am learning few rhythm instruments and also mridhangam from Padma Vibushan Umayalpuram Sivaraman”. Ask him about his looks, he says, “Yes, I do sport different looks at various stages in my journey.”
