“I want to call Selva ‘Steven Selva Berg’”. I fell in love with Selva’s craft of filmmaking his splendid control over the medium and his vision which is way ahead of the times”, Suriya heaped laurels on Selvaraghavan comparing him to Steven Spielberg. Suriya is collaborating with him for the first time for the political thriller NGK (Nandha Gopalan Kumaran).

He went on to say, “I met him way back in 2002 when he had invited me to watch song visuals from his film Kadhal Kondein. As soon as we entered the studio opposite Madras Talkies, the power went off. After waiting for a while, I watched the songs and it was flabbergasting. I told Selva that we would do a film one day, which has materialised after 17 years.”

He adds that Selva brings a bundle of surprises every day, “His taking is totally different. Unlike in my previous films, his shots are too long. There are no shortcuts. Everyone’s performance should be flawless to sustain the scene. Even after being so many years in the industry, I unlearned myself to learn something new in NGK. This film is very important in my career. I want to work with him again. Hence, I request Selva to approach me whenever he writes a new script.”

On his co-star Sai Pallavi he said, “She is a challenging co-star to work with. Despite giving a great feat, she would cry after each shot saying ‘I could have done better’. Very dedicated artiste.”

Suriya also applauded Yuvan Shankar Raja for his songs and background score. “Selvaraghavan and Yuvan Shankar Raja is a magical combo and has given huge hits. I am happy to be part of this super collaboration.” NGK bankrolled by Dream Warrior Pictures will hit the marquee on May 31.
