Chennai: Superstar’ Rajinikanth, who turned up at the international airport Monday morning without his passport, flew to Malaysia for a shoot as per his travel plans, after the travel document was hand-delivered by his aide.

Slated to leave for Kuala Lumpur on Malaysian Airlines flight MH 183, the actor arrived at the airport at 10.15 am for the scheduled departure of 11.45 am. Only at the immigration counter did Rajinikanth realise he had left his passport at home.

Immigration officials who received him warmly suggested that the passport could be produced later and the star could meanwhile complete other formalities.

The actor informed his people at home to send the passport through his aide, not by car but by a two-wheeler in order to travel faster through the traffic.

His aide turned up at the terminal with the passport at 11 am, at the eleventh hour as it were and in filmy style after weaving through the traffic.

Much to Rajinikanth’s relief, the passport was hand delivered inside the airport with the help of immigration officials and after verification, he was allowed to board the flight, which incidentally took off after a 30 minute delay at around 12.15 pm.

When Deccan Chronicle contacted airport authorities to find out whether the delay in the departure of MH 183 was to accommodate Rajinikanth, the authorities clarified that the flight itself had arrived 15 minutes late from Kuala Lumpur due to weather conditions.

“It is true Rajinikanth forgot his passport. But he was not the reason for the delay”, an official asserted. The star was travelling for the final phase shooting of Pa Ranjith’s Kabali, which is underway at Malaysia. The actor is also simultaneously shooting for Shankar’s Enthiran 2.0.
