Kingdom Falters on Day 2: Box Office Collections Drop Sharply
Despite Vijay Deverakonda’s intense performance, the action drama struggles to hold momentum after strong opening day
Vijay Deverakonda’s much-anticipated action drama Kingdom appears to be losing steam at the box office, particularly in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. According to trade sources, the film’s Day 2 share plummeted to ₹5 crore—less than half of its Day 1 earnings of ₹11 crore in the two Telugu states.
Though Deverakonda’s performance has been widely praised for its intensity and sincerity, the film’s underwhelming storyline seems to be a major deterrent for audiences.
“Vijay has delivered a strong performance, but the story lacks emotional depth and fails to connect with viewers. If this trend continues, the film could face trouble sustaining at the box office,” said a prominent distributor.
Kingdom was reportedly sold for ₹37 crore in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and with a production cost exceeding ₹120 crore, the pressure to recover investments is mounting.
“Unless collections improve significantly over the weekend, it could be a tough road ahead. The makers need to ramp up promotions and attract footfalls quickly,” the distributor added, underlining the urgent need for a box office rebound.
