Jason Shah Weighs in on 'Jana Nayaan' Censorship Controversy
The film, which was originally scheduled for a theatrical release on January 9, has been stalled due to censorship issues.
Actor Jason Shah plays a pivotal role in Vijay’s Jana Nayaan. The film, which was originally scheduled for a theatrical release on January 9, has been stalled due to censorship issues. During a recent interview, Shah spoke candidly about the situation.
In an interview with a leading tabloid, he reacted to the CBFC controversy, stating, "Religion and politics always have something to do with movies. Whoever is voted in as the ruling party, they have been given the country in their hands to decide what happens. Your voting causes these kinds of decisions, so if you have done that, then also sit back and be happy."
He went on to describe the combination of freedom of speech and technology as "the deadliest combination of them all." Shah explained that as an actor, you put yourself in the line of fire and must accept being a public figure subject to scrutiny; he remarked that if someone doesn't like it, they shouldn't be an actor. He noted that while many actors focus on the money and fame, they also need to be ready to be "scrutinised from head to toe," concluding that because people pay for the experience, they have every right to say what they feel.
