Are Mindy Kaling and Novak together again?

On-off couple Mindy Kaling and B.J. Novak have rekindled fans’ hopes that they might get back together some day.

Fans of Mindy Kaling and B.J. Novak might just have a reason to rejoice. On the occasion of her 40th birthday on Monday, People.com reports that Kaling was joined by some of her closest friends, including ex-boyfriend Novak, for a cocktail party at San Vicente Bungalows in West Hollywood.

For the milestone birthday, Kaling was treated to a fancy cake that hilariously featured a photo of herself from one of her past birthdays. While Kaling sparkled and shone on her big day, it was her ex-boyfriend, captured adoringly staring at the birthday girl, who stole the limelight.

Fans were quick to pick up on the vibes and expressed hope that the two, who played onscreen lovers in The Office and dated on-and-off in real life too, would one day reunite.

 “Get u a man that looks at u the same way bj looks at mindy (sic),” wrote one follower, while another wrote, “I wish someone looked at me like BJ looks at Mindy (sic).” Kaling and Novak fans may not be completely off the mark. This past January, the two attended the Vanity Fair Oscars viewing party together for the second consecutive year.

A few months later, the Late Night star revealed that Novak is godfather to her 17-month-old daughter, Katherine Swati.

“B.J. is so much more like family now than a platonic friend,” said Kaling.
