After getting embroiled in controversy due to the display of Beyoncé’s statue that fans said was whitewashed, Madame Tussauds, New York, seems to have taken down the statue. On Thursday, the statue was not seen on display.

Earlier, the museum had said that their sculptors take every effort to accurately colour match each of their wax figures, and that the lighting within the location and flash photography might have distorted the image of the statue in photographs.

A staff member at the building told the New York Times that the wax figure was “off the floor until further notice,” but he didn’t reveal the reason  why. A representative of the museum was approached, but did not wish to comment.
