Zendaya to play Mary Jane Watson

Zendaya is all set to play Spider-Man’s long-time love interest Mary Jane Watson in the upcoming movie Spider-Man: Homecoming, according to TheWrap.com. Zendaya is known for her role as Rocky Blue in the Disney Channel sitcom Shake It Up. Though it was previously announced that the 19-year-old actress would play a key role in the Marvel reboot, her character was officially confirmed only on Thursday.

Zendaya will star opposite 20-year-old Tom Holland, who is playing Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Mary Jane Watson was previously played by Kirsten Dunst in the first Spider-Man trilogy starring Tobey Maguire as the superhero. Whereas, Shailene Woodley had filmed scenes as the character for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 opposite Andrew Garfield, but her role was cut from the movie.
