Kendrick Lamar has been announced as 2018’s Pulitzer Prize winner for music. The 30-year-old rapper bagged the award for his album Damn, which had also won the Grammy for Best Rap Album this year. For the same album, he had won a whopping five Grammys.

JustJared.com reports that Kendrick has become the first non-classical or jazz artist to win the Pulitzer in this category. BBC.com quotes the organisers as saying that Kendrick’s album offered “affecting vignettes capturing the complexity of modern African-American life”.
