Ellen DeGeneres is facing the brunt of some major backlash for defending comedian Kevin Hart, reports JustJared.com. The talk-show host asked Hart to host the Oscars after he stepped down due to resurfaced, homophobic tweets.
Ellen, in the interview, said, “As a gay person, I am sensitive to all of that. You’ve already expressed that it’s not being educated on the subject, not realizing how dangerous those words are, not realizing how many kids are killed for being gay or beaten up every day (sic).”
Further adding, “You have grown, you have apologised, you are apologising again right now. You’ve done it. Don’t let those people win — host the Oscars (sic).”
A lot of people took offence and launched a tirade of tweets against the comedienne, to which she replied in a tweet, saying “However you feel about this, the only positive way through it is to talk about it. Thank you for being here, @KevinHart4real (sic).”
