Singer Tom Petty dies aged 66

Doctors have said that the reason for his death was a cardiac arrest.

Musician Tom Petty passed away on Monday in California, aged 66, reports JustJared.com. His manager has confirmed the sad news and said that he died in the hospital, surrounded by his family, friends and bandmates.

The lead singer of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers was found unconscious and not breathing in his house. He was rushed to the hospital but could not be saved. Doctors have said that the reason for his death was a cardiac arrest.

A statement that was released by his manager Tony Dimitriades to BuzzFeed read, “On behalf of the Tom Petty family we are devastated to announce the untimely death of our father, husband, brother, leader and friend Tom Petty.”
