Noted filmmaker Aparna Sen on Thursday presented Ranjan Ghosh’s upcoming movie Adamya through Facebook. The film, set to be released in February 2026, is a political thriller set in the wilderness of the Sundarbans.
“It is a matter of pride that Aparna Sen is presenting our film, something she has never done before,” said Ghosh, whilst sharing details of his film. “When the poor get poorer and the rich get richer, when the vast lands and dense forests of the tribals are handed over to crony capitalist friends of the ministers, when the legal system becomes unaffordable to the common man seeking redressal, there rises a group of youth that seeks freedom from poverty, casteism, communalism, corruption, bigotry, and exploitation,” he said, adding that it is up to the people to decide if they are extremists or revolutionaries, anti-nationals or patriots.
“As most people know I am a very discerning viewer but this one took my breath away with its powerful imagery and equally impressive acting,” Sen said, sharing the trailer on social media.
Adamya, taglined as The Unbroken, is the story of a 23-year-old hunter who becomes the hunted in unexpected circumstances. With strong political overtones, the movie discusses long-standing conflicts between humans, nature, and the state.
Expected to be a rooted, impactful film, the film only had a small crew of six. Actor Aryuunn Ghosh is the solo character shown in the movie.
