Dil Raju Opens Up About Numbers Game, Ballooning Budgets
The exaggerated posters are created mainly to impress the heroes and satisfy fan bases.
The current film industry system needs a complete reset according to producer Dil Raju. He states that a massive 40 percent or more of every film’s budget now goes toward actor remunerations. On top of that, middlemen walk away with 5 to 10 percent of the total costs. This structure leaves very little money for the actual production value on screen.
Compounding the crisis are weak OTT deals. Digital platforms are no longer offering the easy safety nets they once did. This shift places additional financial strain on producers who are already risking significant capital.
The numbers game has also distorted public reality. Dil Raju revealed that the obsession with inflated figures began back in 2015 with Baahubali. Since then, the pressure to showcase massive numbers has escalated. This trend was recently highlighted by controversies surrounding fake collection posters for the film Game Changer.
According to Dil Raju, the real box office numbers are known only to the producers themselves. The exaggerated posters are created mainly to impress the heroes and satisfy fan bases.
