Tollywood star actor Vijay Devarakonda interacted with the media persons on Wednesday after appearing before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Hyderabad in connection with illegal betting apps case.

Talking to media after the questioning, the popular actor said, "Please correct your notions" and added, "I was promoting a gaming app which is totally legal and not a betting app as per few reports. I hope you will understand the big difference between legal and illegal apps."

He claimed that even ED officials were bit clueless about why his name cropped up in their illegal betting apps investigation.
"I was summoned and I replied to all their queries. They took all details about the app, contractual and financial transactions and we submitted necessary documents."
He promoted a gaming app named A23 and calls it proper company.
"They are registered company and have also sponsored Indian cricket team and women's cricket team besides sponsoring IPL matches and even Olympic team. Such sponsors would be approved only if they're legal entities," he points out.
He further adds, "Even gaming apps are allowed in certain states and not allowed in some places. Nonetheless, its legal gaming app to enthrall players. While betting apps are illegal and should be avoided," he concludes.

The 'Kingdom' actor was among the 29 celebrities against whom the ED registered a case for promoting illegal betting apps. The premier investigating agency already filed an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) against 29 actors, influencers, and Youtubers for allegedly promoting illegal betting platforms, in violation of the Public Gambling Act-1867.
