Shreya Sharma featured in a popular dance number 'Pallo Latke' in Telugu film Jatadhara, which brought her into the limelight. She is open to doing item numbers as she enjoys dancing. Having tasted success with her debut Mastiii 4, Shreya is waiting for Mr & Mrs Grey with Vivek Oberoi, Nithya Menon, and Ashish Vidyarthi. She is far from a conventional newcomer.

DC caught up with Sharma when she candidly answered some questions, tracing the challenges and growth in her career.

Since Mastiii 4 is an adult comedy, did you ever feel uncomfortable?

Not even once. The director, his wife, and families were around. The film has double-meaning jokes, but everything stayed within limits. Despite the genre's common perceptions, I saw it as an opportunity to debut in a successful franchise featuring actors I had admired for years -- Riteish Deshmukh, Vivek Oberoi, Aftab Shivdasani, Nargis Fakhri, and Arshad Warsi.

How was your experience working with the well-known male actors?

On the first day I was overwhelmed, because I’ve grown up watching them — Riteish sir, Genelia ma’am, Aftab sir, Vivek sir. But everyone is so warm, mischievous, and good-hearted. Their families were around on set, so it felt very comfortable.

What is your take on adult/sexual comedy?

There’s a fine line between cringe and funny. Our director and actors maintained that line very well. My parents watched the film too, and my father even teared up at one wedding-shot scene. These days, reels itself have more content than films. I believe the Masti films are more than adult comedies; they also carry emotion and memorable moments. For me, appearing on such a big screen was an opportunity worth embracing wholeheartedly.

What cuss words did you learn on set? Your favourite one?

I don’t really use cuss words, but I say “duck!” a lot. My mother scolded me for that.

Did boys look at you? Ever had a relationship?

I liked a senior in college, but I’ve never been in a committed relationship. When I moved to Bombay to become an actress, I didn’t want marriage talks.

Do you think today’s generation has commitment phobia?

I think I have a little myself. But independence has made women smarter about choices. I want a family one day—two kids, two dogs, a sea-facing house, and a tall husband.

What qualities do you want in a partner?

Minimum six feet tall, Stubble (not clean shaven) Intelligent and knowledgeable about world, cinema, culture, politics. Someone who can teach me finance, savings, crypto. Looks don’t matter as much as brains and conversation.

You look very seductive in the film. What is your view on doing glamorous roles?

As an actress, you must have thick skin. I ask myself whether a role excites me. Pallo Latke was offered as an item number and I wondered if I should do it so early in my career—but it trended at No. 1 and I’m glad I did it. Cinema should make people feel something.

Will you do item numbers in future?

100%. Especially in a big film like Pushpa. I’m manifesting it!

Tell us about your Telugu debut.

Jatadhara was my Telugu debut where Pallo Latke was featured.

Your debut film, “Mr & Mrs Grey has not released yet? Elaborate?

My first full film is Mr. & Mrs. Grey, a murder mystery with Nithya Menon ma’am, Vivek Oberoi sir, and Ashish Vidyarthi sir. It’s a murder mystery, and my character is something I can’t reveal yet. I’m excited for people to see a different side of me.

If you got offers from South and Bollywood at the same time, which would you choose?

Depends completely on the script and the character. Screen space doesn’t matter—what the character does in the story matters.

What are you currently working on?

I’m giving auditions for multiple films, learning Telugu, and doing acting workshops with Neeraj Kabi sir and others. I want to leave no stone unturned.
