Mubarakan sequel in the works

Anil and Arjun Kapoor starrer Mubarakan released two years ago in July 2017. And when the cast, producer and the director of the film met again recently, they hatched a plan for the sequel of the film. While the first part of the film was not so much for the makers to write home about, it was good enough to pen a sequel for sure.

So, when actors Anil Kapoor and Ileana D’Cruz met up with producer Murad Khetani and director Anees Bazmee to celebrate two years of the film, they decided to go ahead with the sequel as well and requested Arjun Kapoor and Athiya Shetty to participate as well.

“They planned to make a sequel as quickly as possible and to try and release the film by Christmas next year or the following one, depending on schedules. Sequels often do not have the entire cast in place as the heroines are changed, but this time around the girls might just get lucky,” says an industry source.

Mubarakan got lucky after its release, grossing over 12 million dollars worldwide after Imtiaz Ali’s Jab Harry Met Sejal tanked at the turnstiles.
