Mumbai: Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor are rated among the most talented actors from among the current generation, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali pulled a major casting coup, by getting the two together in his upcoming magnum opus, ‘Padmavati’. While Ranveer plays the antagonistic Alauddin Khilji, Shahid will be seen playing Raja Rawal Ratan Singh.

However, there had been rumours of a raging cold war between the two over enhanced prominence of the other in the film. The film, which stars Deepika Padukone as the eponymous warrior queen, has already been laden in controversy over its content.

While SLB had mostly been shooting the solo scenes of the three lead actors and the combination scenes between Deepika and Shahid, the director was yet to film scenes that had both Ranveer and Shahid screen space.

But now, the grand moment has finally arrived.

“Sanjay sir planned the shoot in such a way that individual scenes of all actors were shot first. These will be followed by portions that see them together. Although Deepika (Padukone), who plays Rani Padmavati, and Shahid, as her husband Raja Ratan Singh, have shot together before, Ranveer has shot solo scenes until now. There is latent animosity running through the scene. Before Ranveer injured himself while shooting last week, the scene was discussed with him,” Mid-Day quoted a source as saying.

With their explosive talent, the two are bound to deliver a cracker of a scene.

‘Padmavati,’ is slated for a November 17 release.
