Hrithik Roshan, Salman Khan, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar and now Ajay Devgn — a number of big names dominate the long list of actors approached for the Satte Pe Satta (or, rather, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers) remake by Farah Khan and Rohit Shetty.

After changing plenty of Bollywood A-list hands, the script of the Satte Pe Satta remake is now sitting with Ajay Devgn. As the actor’s nod is awaited, Katrina Kaif is being considered to play the heroine.

In February this year, Shetty announced that he had signed on Khan as a director to helm what they billed as the mother of all comedies. Ten months later, both the mother and the baby appear to be missing. The film, bankrolled by Reliance Entertainment, has faced a bevy of claims from multiple parties, including a Hollywood studio, a film producer from Mumbai and many others — each wanting a piece of the pie. For the longest time, Hrithik Roshan was being wooed with drafts and redrafts of the film before it was passed on to the Bollywood A-listers and is now sitting pretty on Ajay Devgn’s table.

“Ajay has not yet given the nod for the project. Katrina Kaif is being considered to play the heroine. Apart from the soon-to-release Sooryavanshi and the soon-to-be-made Phonebooth, there is nothing much on Katrina’s plate. Ajay has a cameo in the Katrina-starrer Sooryavanshi and they have worked as co-stars in Raajneeti where they weren’t a romantic pair. So, it does work well as a fresh pairing too,” reveals a trade source.
