We told you earlier this year that Abhishek Bachchan’s comeback film will be called Ludo and, well, it is. Director Anurag Basu and producer Bhushan Kumar have zeroed in on the title for what is meant to be the unofficial sequel to Life in a... Metro.

Identical to the reason why ABCD 2’s sequel was called Street Dancer 3D — where another studio took over the reins of the franchise — the same title could not be used in the case of Ludo due to intellectual property rights issues.

Bachchan’s visual in the film’s poster, which was put out on Friday, shows him as a single father — a role the actor has never played before. “He has a fantastic role and he has shot extensively for the film in Kolkata. The last time he had shot in Kolkata was when he was in the path-breaking Mani Ratnam film, Yuva, and this one promises to be as good, if not better. His chemistry with the child (actor) he has worked with is also amazing and this film will certainly redefine his career,” says an insider in the know.

Ludo also stars Dangal girls Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra, along with Aditya Roy Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao and the powerhouse performer, Pankaj Tripathi. Abhishek is also top-lining the cast of the Ajay-Devgn-produced film, The Big Bull, based on the ’90s stock market scam, where he plays a role inspired by the late stock market scamster, Harshad Mehta.
