Arshad Warsi: Ishqiya 3 is surely not happening

New Ishqiya was meant to go on floors soon, but the makers have revisited their decision as the sequel flopped.

Ishqiya is a 2010 Indian black comedy, that followed with a sequel in 2014 named Dedh Ishqiya.

Mumbai: Actor Arshad Warsi recently revealed  that Ishqiya franchise won't have a third part. The Munnabhai actor revealed that Ishqiya 3 is not happening due to budget issues. The first film Ishqiya was released in 2010 and starred Vidya Balan, Arshad and Naseeruddin Shah. The sequel was released in 2014 which starred Madhuri Dixit-Nene and Huma Qureshi alongside Warsi and Shah.

Arshad told a leading tabloid, "The film is surely not happening. There was talk of the third part, but, I had a conversation with the producers and the last instalment was too expensive."

He further stated that the producers couldn't recover the cost. Arshad added, "As a result, they have changed their mind. As of now, the film isn't in the pipeline. Naseer saab and I had hoped that this project would work out".

A source from the Shemaroo Entertainment said that the franchise's last edition (Dedh Ishqiya) flopped and the producers don't want to take another risk. The source said, "It is a glorious franchise which has promise. The makers might come around if Abhishek Chaubey comes up with an irresistible idea. As of now, it is shelved indefinitely."

Arshad Warsi is currently riding high on the success of Golmaal Again which is the fourth film of Golmaal franchise. Directed by Rohit Shetty, the film also stars Ajay Devgn, Parineeti Chopra, Tabu, Shreyas Talpade, Kunal Khemmu, and Neil Nitin Mukesh in lead roles. The film has touched the mark of 200 crores at the box-office.
