Accomplished Indian-American filmmaker Mira Nair is on the lookout for actors for her upcoming project — an adaptation of Vikram Seth’s novel A Suitable Boy. According to sources, she has approached Dangal actress Sanya Malhotra with a role. “Sanya has a great line-up of films, and she has now been approached for A Suitable Boy. Sanya is interested in doing content-driven films, and she likes this project, but she has not signed it yet,” a source says.
Sanya is currently busy shooting for Vishal Bharadwaj’s Pataakha, which is slated for a September 28 release. It will be interesting to see if she chooses to collaborate with Mira.
Mira Nair is known for films such as Monsoon Wedding and Salaam Bombay!, which received an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign-language Film. A Suitable Boy will be BBC’s first production with a non-white cast.
