Genelia is the boss: Riteish Deshmukh

Ahead of the release of Housefull 3, Riteish Deshmukh says he is excited for having completed almost 13 years in the industry.

“After my very first year I was not sure of continuing in Bollywood, but I am surprised and happy that I have lasted so long. I am content as I am now good at my craft too… Also I have gradually ventured into production of a few Marathi films. I have made a conscious decision that I will do at least one Marathi film a year,” he says.

And he has to thank his wife Genelia for this. “From buying bread and other requisites at home to production, she does it all meticulously well,” he says.

Talking about his upcoming film, he says, “I am excited. And the three girls, Jacqueline, Lisa and Nargis, were the perfect cast…we had a ball during the shoot. We were like college buddies. All I can say is that Housefull 3 was like a paid holiday for all of us.”

About production, Riteish says, “I am a creative man, I cannot handle the financial aspects. Genelia is excellent in handling finances. She does the entire production job very well… right from engaging technicians to their payments. She also does the bookings for the team’s stay along with arranging transport to the locations, etc.”

“Genelia also actively participates in script writing. She has vast knowledge about scripts as she has worked a lot in the South industry. She always tells us to keep the script simple… simpler the script, the lesser the chances of the story being rejected,” he adds.

Asked how it was being a parent, he laughs and says, “The child is the father of man… since my son is very small, it is us as parents who have to give in always. As soon as he grows up, he will start telling us about his own opinions. It will then have to be us parents who will have listen to his opinion and part with ours cautiously, we have to be friendly with him.”
