Parineeta director Pradeep Sarkar passes away

Mumbai: Director Pradeep Sarkar, who was known for hit films like Parineeta, Mardani, passed away at the age of 67. 

Sharing the news about Sarkar’s demise on Twitter on Friday morning, director Hansal Mehta posted his picture and wrote: "Pradeep Sarkar. Dada. RIP."

Several other Bollywood stars also paid tribute to the filmmaker.

Ajay Devgn wrote: "The news of Pradeep Sarkar's demise, 'Dada' to some of us is still hard to digest. My deepest condolences. My prayers are with the departed and his family. RIP Dada."

Actor Manoj Bajpayee retweeted Hansal Mehta's tweet and expressed his shock over the demise. He wrote: "Ohh! That's so shocking! Rest in peace Dada."

Director Kunal Kohli took to Twitter to pay tribute to the late director and even dedicated a song. He wrote: “Shocked & Sad to hear about Dada Pradeep Sarkar. Really sweet man. Had lovely conversations about cinema with him. RIP Dada. Here’s a song from your film to celebrate you & your cinema"

Neil Nitin Mukesh, who worked with Sarkar in Lafangey Parindey, tweeted: "DADA! Why? I'll miss you dada. Will always remember you as that child hearted, full of life man who taught me so much. Your creation Lafangey Parindey will always remain close to my heart. My prayers with the family."

Before entering the film industry, Pradeep Sarkar directed several popular music videos and commercials. In 2005, he made his directorial debut with Parineeta, featuring Vidya Balan, Saif Ali Khan and Sanjay Dutt.

Sarkar also helmed films like Laaga Chunari Mein Daag, Lafangey Parindey, Mardaani and others. His last project as a director was film Helicopter Eela, starring Kajol in the lead.
