For now, Raju will first be finishing the shoot of the Sanjay Dutt biopic and then start on his project with the 3 Idiots trio.

It’s been seven years since director Rajkumar Hirani’s hugely successful film 3 Idiots first hit the big screens. With a cast that had Aamir Khan, R. Madhavan and Sharman Joshi, the film made everyone not only roll with laughter but also sit up and pay attention to the lapses in the education system. And now, it looks like the ace filmmaker is all set to repeat the magic.

According to reports, Raju and his collaborator Abhijaat Joshi are currently working on multiple storylines that will bring the three actors, who had earlier given a stellar performance, back together on the screen. Ever since their success in PK, the two have been exploring a lot of subjects and brainstorming on ideas.

A source revealed, “The two have been been busy with the biopic on Sanjay Dutt as they had to spend a lot of time with him and his family. However, they wanted to lock down on a subject for the other project before they take the Sanju biopic on the floors. They have managed to narrow it down to one subject and it’s something the entire team loves!”

Earlier this year, Aamir too had hinted that Rajkumar Hirani is working on a new script. While lending his support to Saala Khadoos, he had said, “Raju Hirani has been hinting to me about a 3 Idiots sequel and I am giving you all the same hint. The film will happen if and when he writes the script. So let’s all keep our fingers crossed.”

He had further added, “Yes, he (Hirani) did mention to me that he has an idea in place. I am eagerly waiting for him to finish the script so that we can start working on it soon.”
