Happy Birthday Mohanlal: Mollywood’s dear Lalettan, the legendary actor Mohanlal, turns 63 today. Born on May 21, 1960, in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala, the versatile actor has won millions of hearts with his memorable performance. 

Mohan Lal made his debut in Malayalam as a villain 42 years ago, in 1978. Mohanlal entered the hearts of millions of movie lovers through the 1980 movie Manjil Virinja Pookkal, directed by Fazil in which he was casted as main antagonist.

Introduced as a young and promising villain, Mohanlal earned the hero’s title through his prolific acting career spanning across genres. It was through the movie Rajavinte Makan directed by Thambi Kannanthanam, released in 1986, that the ace actor rose to superstardom. 

Lalettan's effortless acting in over 350+ films in various languages, including Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi has earned him fans across the globe. The seasoned actor marked his Bollywood debut in 2002 with Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Company’. In 2007, he stepped into the industry for again in ‘Aag’. The actor has also appeared in a 2012 release titled ‘Teez’. Mohanlal was seen in a cameo.
