Farhan Akhtar is the latest Bollywood celebrity to get into trouble, thanks to his social media activity.

The actor wanted to post a note on the discrimination towards Muslims in the Citizens Amendment Act 2019, and there was an accompanying map in the graphic that did not show Kashmir as a part of India. Farhan, who has also made a film called Lakshya on the Kargil War, either did not know what the map meant or did not see the map properly before posting.

But post he did, saying, “Here’s what you need to know about why these protests are important. See you on the 19th at August Kranti Maidan, Mumbai. The time to protest on social media alone is over.”

Then came the backlash for the post, and the subsequent apology.

“I recently posted a message about a protest meeting on December 19th with a repost of a graphic about the meeting. While I stand by the text, I have only just noticed that the map of India on the graphic is inaccurate. Every inch and part of Kashmir is a part of India and I reject the inaccurate map. I regret not noticing this earlier. My sincerest apologies for the oversight,” he wrote.

It doesn’t seem that he is taking any notes from the mistakes made by his Bollywood friends Akshay Kumar and Karan Johar. Meanwhile, a lot of Bollywood actors and celebrities are expected to be at the protest. On the work front, Farhan’s next release as an actor will be Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s Toofan.
