Mumbai: Karan Johar’s 'Kalank' has been in news ever since the inception of the movie. The film has also created quite a stir among the audience especially due to its impressive star cast. Now joining the team on the sets of one of the most anticipated films of 2019 'Kalank' is none other than the Bollywood's 'Khalnayak' Sanjay Dutt. The actor will be shooting with Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur.
Noted trade analyst and Bollywood film critic Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to confirm the news as he wrote, "Sanjay Dutt begins shooting for #Kalank today [18 June 2018]... Costars Madhuri Dixit Nene, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Aditya Roy Kapoor... Abhishek Varman directs... 19 April 2019 release."
Helmed by Abhishek Varman, the epic period drama is going to be set in the 1940s, around the hard times faced by India and Pakistan.
Karan Johar's multi-starer production will star an ensemble cast of Varun Dhawan, Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapur, Madhuri Dixit-Nene, Kriti Sanon and Kunal Kemmu.
Madhuri replaced Sridevi after her untimely demise in Dubai on February 24, this year.
This film also marks the collaboration of Fox Star Studios, Dharma Productions and Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment. 'Kalank' is slated to release on April 19, 2019.
Besides 'Kalank', Sanjay Dutt has signed six Bollywood films so far, namely - 'Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3', 'Shamshera', 'Housefull 4', 'Torbaaz', 'Prasathanam', 'Panipat'. It is widely known that filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani has directed a biopic on Sanjay Dutt named 'Sanju' starring Ranbir Kapoor in the title role. The multi-starrer film is slated to release on June 29.
