Actors should own film’s success and failure, says Ajay Devgn

Mumbai: Ajay Devgn is one actor in the film industry who doesn’t believe in mincing his words. When asked if he ever regretted doing films that didn’t work at the box-office, the actor says, “I have done a lot of terrible films and I accept that but I don’t name them because it is not fair on the makers. Many a time while shooting you realise that you are going wrong. You may debate with the makers but finally, it is his point of view.”

The Singham actor also feels that when a film fails, it is not only a director’s failure. “Because we are happy taking all the credit when a film is a hit, so we should also own the failure. You just need to be honest and if you are honest, you will be fine. If you want to take the credit for your next film, you might as well take this as well,” he says adding that there have been times when he has done films for friends. “I won’t say I have stopped doing films for friendships but I want to draw a line as an actor. Every time, you think of doing that and then you get emotional and end up doing it for the sake of friendship. I don’t think we will change,” he says.

The 49-year old actor is known for getting into the skin of his characters but when asked about his approach to roles, the actor admits to being lazy when it comes to prepping for a role. “I don’t prep much because I am a spontaneous actor. I don’t sit for sessions. I need to understand the character and that’s all I do. Otherwise, I am a very lazy actor and have managed so far.”
