Preity Zinta, who was in the news for her private wedding with Gene Goodenough a few months back, is all support for the  severe draught conditions in Maharashtra. The actress recently constructed a well in a village near Nasik city in Maharashtra that was inaugurated on Sunday. The well was constructed with the motive to conserve and save water to help the villagers during this crisis in the state.

The state has been experiencing water shortage for a very long time — due to which even the IPL matches were shifted from Nagpur to Mohali! The actress took up this initiative to help the villagers in Maharashta and thanked the team who made this happen on social media.

Earlier, Preity has also spoken publicly on various women’s and children’s issues in India, and participated in fundraisers for various Indian charities. In 2010, she became the brand ambassador for The Loomba Trust, a charity that supports widows and their children. She is also associated with Red Cross that provides relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare, and respond to emergencies.
