Ranveer Singh begins prep on '83

With Simmba crossing Rs 100 crore at the box office and Gully Boy ready to hit the screens next month, Ranveer Singh is now preparing for his next film ’83.
In the film, Ranveer essays the role of then captain of the Indian cricket team Kapil Dev. Over the weekend, the actor was spotted at a film studio in Mumbai along with the director of ’83, Kabir Khan.
Initially, the film was to be directed by Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan and was to star Arjun Kapoor in the lead role. But after a fall out between the director and the producers of the film, the former walked out of the project along with the script.
"So Kabir Khan and team needed a fresh script which has now been completed. The reason they wanted to start the preparations on the film was so that Ranveer can get into the skin of the character Kapil Dev after eliminating all the Sangram Bhalerao, Divine and Naezy from his system," says a source close to the development of ’83.
