Shahid Kapoor bats for Jersey

Shahid Kapoor is all padded up to play a cricketer in Jersey. The actor understands that he has huge shoes to fill when he steps into the pads of the cricketer in the film.

The role in the original Telugu film, also directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, was essayed by Nani, who spared no efforts to get his cricket style in order. “Nani actually practised for 70 days for his role. The cricket matches were shot for 24 days in various stadiums in India and professional cricketers were roped in for the original film as well. Shahid obviously realised how good Nani was in the film, and has been practising very hard to ensure that the comparisons do not make him look bad. Additionally, his Padmaavat co-star Ranveer Singh, who is doing a cricket film named ’83, has come in for a lot of praise. While they are all different films, there will be comparisons nevertheless,” says a source.

Apart from practising the sport, Shahid is also following a cricketer-friendly fitness and diet routine. Shahid may have a lot of hits under his belt, but this film will be a new test for him.
