Mumbai: The new kid on the block Ananya Pandey, who is being launched by Karan Johar in Student Of The Year 2, seems extremely confident and is all set to face a healthy competition in the industry.

Several newcomers are being launched in this industry this year. Commenting on the same, Ananya says, “I love competition, it is so much fun and motivating. I think the industry needs new people all the time so it’s amazing.”

Talking about her debut film SOTY 2, which centres around school life and the annual inter-school competition, Ananya says, “I don’t think such school exists in real life, it’s too larger than life. I wish my school life was like this, I wish we had such hot boys and I wish we could wear cool clothes. So, there are no real memories.” She further adds, “I am very grateful to Karan and Punit. This feels surreal.”

Directed by Punit Malhotra, the film features Tiger Shroff, Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday.

Interestingly, Hollywood star Will Smith also shot for a song in the film. However, it was not incorporated in the trailer of the film.

Karan Johar says, “Will Smith shot for a Facebook show called Bucket List in which one of his items was to dance on a Bollywood song. Fortunately, I have known him for years and we were ironically shooting for Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani at the same time. So, he came and rehearsed. Whether he is going to be a part of the film? That’s the question I am going to leave unanswered till you see the film.”

The film also has a remix of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani. Reacting to that, Karan says, “Even in Student Of The Year, there was a remix of Disco Deewane. It was a popular song from the 80s. I told Punit that we should incorporate a song which has a retro feeling. My favourite retro song ever is Yeh Jawaani and we got the rights. So, every time we have Student Of The Year, we will have a retro song.”
