Mumbai: Bollywood actors have long been trying their hand at crooning. The likes of Salman Khan, Shraddha Kapoor, Sonakshi Sinha, Alia Bhatt, and many more, have often tried and failed miserably.

Shraddha, who played a singer in ‘Rock On!! 2,’ had been subjected to a lot of flak for her efforts behind the mic.

The actress is back at it again, with her version of ‘Phir Bhi Tumko Chaahungi’ from her latest fare, 'Half Girlfriend'.

The song, originally sung by Arijit Singh, is one of his template love ballad fares, salvaged by his vocal excellence.

However, the reprise, quite doesn't manage to capture Arijit's inherent soulfullness, annoyingly hampered by Shraddha's severely autotuned vocal rendition.

The production also fails to offer anything innovative, adding to the song's woes.

The song comes out at a time when there's been a raging discourse on the need for actor's to try their hand at playback singing.

Nevertheless, one can't deny the obvious axiom that their involvement does accentuate the song's reach.

'Half Girlfriend,' helmed by Mohit Suri and also starring Arjun Kapoor, is an official adaptation of the Chetan Bhagat book of the same name.

The film is slated to release on May 19.
