Siddharth Malhotra may not have a Bollywood lineage to claim, but his careful selection of characters makes it clear that for him, what roles he plays are more important than money.

Needless to state, treading according to his intuitions and choosing varied roles, his professional graph is gradually moving towards the top. Recalling his Bollywood debut in Student of the Year, Siddharth says, “We were nervous facing the cameras for the first time in Student of the Year.

However, the little experience as an assistant director helped me perform to the best of my ability.” He adds, “Money is important, but I read my scripts to know the weightage of my role, not my screen presence or run time in the film. I prefer a better role to money.”

He has been dreaming to buy a sea-facing house that can accommodate his big Punjabi family from Delhi. “It has been my desire for a while to buy a sea-facing bungalow or flat,” he says.

And for Alia Bhatt, he is all praises. “Alia has an expressive face; she has improved a lot since Student of the Year. I wish I, too, was so involved like her. She talks about acting at home with her dad, mom and friends. She has become an intense person by now. She always loves to learn more when it comes to acting and is very passionate about her work. I have a great admiration and respect for her.”

Are there any actresses with whom he wants to work with? “Yes”, he says, adding, “I have almost worked with actresses who are of my age, but not with Deepika Padukone and Anushka Sharma. And I have not signed any film opposite Deepika; that’s all rumours.”

Well, putting another rumour to rest, Siddharth confirms, “I am not doing Ram Lakhan remake; it has not been offered to me. I have been offered a film by FOX Production House, which is not a sequel to Bang Bang either, so I am not replacing Hrithik. In fact, I am doing a film titled Baar Baar Dekho, which is based on time travel. I am happy to portray the journey of a man from his 18th year till he turns 60. I had to sit down for prosthetics for the aged look; it was really tough, but the role is very interesting. It’s a romantic role this time and I’m not ‘bromancing’ like I did in Brother. I am pairing up with Katrina Kaif for the movie.”

On his future course of action, Siddharth asserts, “After the release of Kapoor and Sons, I have to rush to London for my next shoot. Now, I am only doing a yet-to-be-titled action film and Baar Baar Dekho.”
