A reunion or a completely different story, what is it going to be in 'Student of the Year 2'? Alia Bhatt reveals it all.

Alia Bhatt wants to make a cameo in the sequel of her debut film, 'Student of the Year'.

Mumbai: In 2012, three very talented actors; Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra made their grand entry into Bollywood with Karan Johar’s ‘Student of the Year’. Apart from receiving rave reviews, the romantic drama turned out to be a huge success at the box office as well.

The teen love-triangle paved the way for Alia, Varun and Sidharth, who went on to give back-to-back successful films. The story of three students hit the right chord and perhaps that’s why three years after its release, Karan Johar has decided to revive the 'Student of the Year' franchise.

During a Q&A session with his fans on Twitter, Karan Johar revealed that ‘Student of the Year 2’ is on cards and the filmmaker will soon make an official announcement for the same.

Now the question arises, are we going to witness a reunion of Alia, Varun and Sidharth on the silver screen or if the film will follow a different story with a new star cast? In an exclusive interview with Deccan Chronicle, Alia Bhatt talks about the possibilities.

“I don’t know if the star cast of Student of the Year 2 has been finalized, but I know SOTY was made with three new comers and I think that should remain. SOTY 2 should be made with a new star cast but I’ll ask Karan if I can do a special appearance in the film,” reveals Alia Bhatt.

While Alia wants to make a cameo in the film, her co-star Sidharth Malhotra is happy that a franchise of a college life based film is being made.

“It will be great and for the first time, there will be a franchise to a film based on college life. I owe everything to that film and I wish more and more people from outside get work. That will help in better casting and like me more and more outsiders can achieve their dream,” Sidharth said in an interview with DC.
